ASTON VILLA have hired Nick Haycock from the Premier League to take up the new role of Head of Technical and Player Development.

The Pro Licence holder has worked for the Premier League since September 2014 as Club Support Manager.

Prior to that he spent a decade with West Ham, working as Under-18s and U21 manager and also Head of Coaching and Player Development.

In a coaching career spanning three decades, the Mancunian has also been manager of Chelmsford City and was a coach with Manchester City, where he had been a youth player, for a decade.

Villa first advertised a Head of Player Development role in May 2019. Responsibilities included developing coaches across the age ranges, communicating the coaching philosophy throughout the Academy and ensuring that medical and analytics were utilised by youth teams.
