ANDY GOLDIE has been appointed Academy Director at Southampton in a move that reunites him with manager Russell Martin.

The duo worked together at Swansea City last season and earlier this month Goldie presented at TGG's Youth Development Webinar, outlining how the club’s game model was aligned across first team and Academy.

The Scot, 38, was Academy Director at Dundee United for three-and-a-half years before joining Swansea in August 2022. He oversaw a major expansion of the Scottish side’s youth operation and they fielded the most Academy players of any side in the SPL during the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons.

At Southampton, Goldie replaces Matt Hale, who left at the end of last season after a decade's service and is now Academy Manager at Derby County.

Goldie will start work at Staplewood on July 3rd and report into new Director of Football Jason Wilcox, who was previously the Academy Director at Manchester City.

Southampton said Goldie would be “responsible for the leadership, strategy and productivity of the club’s youth development programme from Under-7s to U21s, with the aim of nurturing and developing talented players on the pathway to the men’s first team.”
