KEN GILLARD has been put in temporary charge of Arsenal Under-18s following the departure of Kwame Ampadu to Monaco.

New manager Thierry Henry made Ampadu one of his assistants (the other is Joao Carlos Calado Trahlo) after taking over at the French club two weeks ago.

Ampadu - the father of Wales and Chelsea star Ethan - had been with Arsenal since 2012, working his way up from the U14s. Gillard, a former Crystal Palace youth coach, was his assistant at the North London club.

His new role is on an interim basis but could be made permanent.
