FORMER Arsenal physio Ben Ashworth has been appointed as Head of Performance by Sparta Prague.

Ashworth was made redundant by the Gunners last May after six years with the North London club. Prior to that he had been lead physio for British Judo and also worked for the English Institute of Sport.

At Sparta he will be reunited with former Arsenal star Tomáš Rosický, who is now Sporting Director for the Czech side.

Ashworth said: “I know Sparta and the history of this club in European football is incredible. Of course, I know the club also thanks to Thomas. I've learned a lot since I took this job.

“Sparta has a truly great tradition and it's a pleasure to be here.”
