LEE DYKES has been promoted from Head of Recruitment to Technical Director by Brentford.

The 37-year-old will be responsible for recruitment, analysis, data, technology and player pathways. He will report into Director of Football Phil Giles, whose other main reports will be Head Coach Thomas Frank and new Director of Elite Performance Ben Ryan.

Dykes has been with The Bees for three years, since joining from Bury in the summer of 2019 as Head of Recruitment. Brentford’s last Technical Director was Robert Rowan, who died of heart failure in November 2018 at the age of just 28.

Giles said: “Lee has done a fantastic job for us over the last three seasons, so I’m pleased to be able to confirm him in a new and broader role at the club.

“He has a strong work ethic, is well connected across football, is process driven with a good eye for a player, which are all qualities that he’ll continue to need as Technical Director.

“This role is a meaningful one for the club, since the last person to hold this position was Rob Rowan. Lee is aware of the significance of the role and I’m sure will do a job which is equally as good as the fantastic work done by Rob during his time here.”

Dykes spent a year as Sporting Director at Bury in 2018/19 and was Assistant Manager and Head of First Team Recruitment at Carlisle United prior to that.

He has experience of working in all four professional divisions in England, starting at Rotherham United as Youth Team Coach in 2007. He has also worked in recruitment and scouting at Crawley Town, Notts County and Oldham Athletic.
