MARK JARVIS is leaving his role as Southampton’s Director of Performance Support as owners Sport Republic continue their clean sweep behind the scenes.

Jarvis was hired from the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in August 2018 as the strategic lead for their performance and medical department across men's, women's and Academy.

He arrived with a strong pedigree in both football and Olympic sports, having been a Strength and Conditioning Coach at West Brom from 2010 to 2013 before his 14 years with the EIS, where he was latterly their Director of Performance Support. He had combined this role with that of Performance Lead for GB Rowing in the run-up to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

At the time of his appointment, Jarvis told TGG: “My role at Southampton is entirely strategic, overseeing performance for the first team, Academy and women’s teams. Our stated aim is to drive a culture of collaboration and innovation.

“The idea is to have a unified performance department, instead of any silos.”

Sport Republic bought Southampton in January 2022 and recent changes mean there will be an almost completely new senior staff at the club in time for the start of next season. Here are the main changes:

  • Head Coach Ruben Selles is leaving and is set to be replaced by Swansea City’s Russell Martin.
  • Director of Football Matt Crocker left the club in March and is now the Sporting Director of US Soccer. He will be replaced by Jason Wilcox, who is Manchester City’s Academy Director.
  • Academy Manager Matt Hale is leaving the Saints after a decade.
  • Lead Data Scientist Alex Kleyn is exiting to join Manchester United.
  • Director of Performance Mark Jarvis is leaving after five years.
  • Head of Senior Recruitment Joe Shields left in January to become Co-Director of Recruitment and Talent at Chelsea. He is set to be replaced by Aberdeen’s Darren Mowbray.
  • Head of Youth Recruitment Dan Rice is leaving to become Head of Emerging Talent for Everton.
  • Tom Stockwell has stepped down as Head of Scouting Operations to join Nottingham Forest. He has been replaced by Sam Stanton, who was previously Head of UK (South) Scouting for the Saints.
