FORMER FA Head of Communications Adrian Bevington has been appointed Head of Recruitment Operations at Middlesbrough.

Bevington, a lifelong Boro fan and former press officer for the club, worked for the FA for 17 years. He started in their press department, before rising to Head of Communications and then Club England Managing Director.

Bevington left the governing body in 2014 and has since been working as a consultant for clients including Watford, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and the Football Association of Wales. He does not appear to have any formal experience of football recruitment.

Victor Orta, now Leeds Sporting Director, was Head of Recruitment for Boro until the end of last season. He was succeeded by the club's former defender Gary Gill, who will now report to Bevington.
