Genius Sports has launched a unique immersive 3D replay technology system to transform player analysis.
For the first time, coaches and analysts will be able to step into their players’ boots virtually to look at key moments in matches from the on-pitch point of view.
The update by Genius Sports, which sponsors the TGG podcast, to its Performance Studio video analysis platform means that coaches will be able to view what a striker sees before taking a shot, the options a midfielder has before playing a pass or how defenders are lining up from a goalkeeper’s perspective.
GeniusIQ, Genius’s next generation sports data and AI platform, processes millions of mesh tracking data points to build a real-time understanding of live action and power 3D recreations.
“At the highest level of football, coaches and analysts are always looking for the next insight or breakthrough to give them a winning edge,” said Genius’s Chief Product Officer, Matt Fleckenstein.
“The Performance Studio is an incredible platform that puts an analyst in the boots of a player during the most important moments of a match, enabling them to see exactly what the player did to improve their future decision-making and make those crucial marginal gains.”
