Former Arsenal Analyst José Antonio Romero has reunited with Unai Emery at Aston Villa.
The Spaniard has worked under Emery at two previous clubs – for the Gunners for seven months in 2019/20 and for Sevilla in 2020. For the last six months he has been working for Segunda Division side Cordoba CF as Lead Analyst and Assistant.
His expertise is in business intelligence and he is adept at using tools such as SQL, Python and PowerBI.
After news of Romero’s exit was announced, Cordoba Head Coach Ivan Ania said: “When someone who gives you everything prospers professionally, you can only be happy for them.”
He added that the duo had “a friendship for life” and that he hoped “in the future we meet again.”
The recruitment of Romero means nine Spanish staff have now joined Emery since his appointment as Head Coach at Villa – Monchi (President of Football Operations), Damia Vidagany (Director of Football Operations), Pako Ayestaran (Assistant), Pablo Villanueva (First-Team Coach), Francisco Javier Garcia (Goalkeeper Coach), Antonio Rodríguez Saravia (Individual Performance Coach), Moises de Hoyo (Fitness Coach), Victor Manas (Analyst) and Romero.
