Analyst exits Southampton after seven months

First Team Analyst Eduard Schmidt has left Southampton after only seven months.

The German joined from Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96 in January and also has experience working in Switzerland and Canada.

Writing on LinkedIn, he said: “Southampton and I have mutually agreed to terminate my contract before the start of the new season. This comes quicker than one might have expected after what felt like a fairytale for the most part: a single league defeat, all the way back in January.

“The only team to beat us afterwards was Manchester City. In the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley. Unbelievable. Thank you for all these unforgettable experiences Saints. I am more than grateful – especially for all the great people involved and the friendships made along the way.”
