Charlie Adam is leaving his role as Everton’s Set Piece Coach to seek an opportunity as a Manager or Head Coach elsewhere.

Adam was the Toffees’ first Set Piece Coach when he joined the club in January, following his sacking as Fleetwood Town Manager the previous month.

On his arrival, Everton manager David Moyes said set pieces was an area Adam “excelled in as a player and one I believe he can really help us with now as a coach”.

In March 2017, Adam told TGG how he felt about set pieces as a player, saying: “I love taking free-kicks and corners. If someone scores from my delivery, it’s just as good as scoring a goal myself.”

The former Scotland international, who won 26 caps for his country, played as a midfielder for Rangers, Blackpool, Liverpool, Stoke City, Reading and Dundee. He started his off-field career by becoming Burnley’s first Loans Manager.

Everton had the joint seventh-best record in scoring from set pieces in the Premier League and joint sixth-best in conceding from them.

It is the second backroom change in quick succession at Everton after Head of Recruitment Dan Purdy left the club after more than a decade to become the new Technical Director at Rangers earlier this week.
