Adam appointed as Everton’s first Set Piece Coach

“Charlie is someone I have had several chats with since rejoining the club,” Moyes said. “He will be helping with set-piece situations, an area he excelled in as a player and one I believe he can really help us with now as a coach.”

Director of Football Kevin Thelwell added: “We’re also pleased to welcome Charlie to what is a new role for us. Set Piece Coaches are becoming increasingly common in top-level football, such is their importance, and we’re looking forward to working with Charlie.”

Adam, 39, made 28 appearances for Liverpool in 2011/12 and won 26 caps for Scotland. In 2022 he was appointed as Burnley’s first Loans Manager (and a Professional Development Phase Coach) after retiring from playing at Dundee.

At the end of December 2024 he was sacked as Fleetwood Town Manager after a year in charge. As Moyes said, Adam excelled as a set-piece deliverer during his playing career.

In March 2017, he went into more depth about this area of his game. He said: “I love taking free kicks and corners. If someone scores from my delivery, it’s just as good as scoring a goal myself.”
