THE PFA is sponsoring the upcoming Futsal Focus Network Business Conference at Tranmere’s Prenton Park on 6/7 September.

The conference is being organised by Futsal Focus, which was established in 2012 to increase awareness of the sport.

Tranmere Rovers chairman Mark Palios said: "We're delighted the PFA are backing this event and that they recognise the growing importance of futsal as both a sport in its own right, but also its advantages for aspiring professional footballers as both a development tool and potential career choice.

"The conference promises to be a fantastic showcase for futsal and I'm sure will be highly beneficial for the many clubs and organisations in attendance."

The sport is going to feature at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Argentina.

Former Irish League football Ciaran Donaghy, who set up Belfast United Futsal Club, said: “Developing futsal in your community is a huge opportunity for retired players. Unfortunately, not every retired player can stay involved in football but these players have a good understanding of what is demanded of a player, what is expected at the highest levels and their experience is vital for young ambitious players.”
