McClaren rules himself out of Huddersfield job

STEVE McCLAREN has ruled himself out of contention for the vacant Sporting Director role at Huddersfield Town.
The Terriers are looking for a replacement for Stuart Webber, who joined Norwich at the start of last month. McClaren has attended several Huddersfield matches in recent weeks, leading to speculation that he was in line for the job.
But the former England boss says he does not want to be a Sporting Director yet.
"Many people have been saying Sporting Director role - there’s no way I’m ready for that," he told 5 Live. "That’s something in a few years’ time.
"I’m a coach, manager - I want to work on the field. I’m purely at Huddersfield games because I admire the way they play. They play great football and it’s only up the road from where I am and you always get an exciting game.
"Sporting director - not for me at this present moment. I want to coach and manage."
As TGG reported last month, McClaren was not in contention for the role in any case. The Terriers are looking for a specialist rather than someone with a coaching and managerial background.
