BLACKBURN ROVERS' Head of Academy Eric Kinder has left the club.

Kinder, a lifelong Rovers fan, first joined as a youth coach in 1999 and was promoted to Head of Academy in March 2015, although he had a period away from the club as Head of Youth at Carlisle from 2006-2013.

Although Rovers are the first Premier League champions to drop down to the third tier of English football, their Academy has been a source of pride. Indeed it is one of only 24 in the country to enjoy Category 1 status. The gold standard was awarded to Rovers in July 2013 and retained last July.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Eric for all his work at the club, specifically as Head of Academy," a short club statement read. "He leaves with our best wishes, good luck for the future and will always be welcome back as a supporter."

Last month Kinder vowed that the club would retain its Category 1 status despite relegation. His departure follows that of highly-regarded Chris Neville, the former Head of Athletic Performance.
